Solutions for Optical Test
Automation:
The Next Level of Productivity and
Innovation
Increase the ratio of test time to set-up time by a
factor of 100. Save $100,000's in test equipment. Test
multiple devices at once. Allocate resources, schedule and run
tests 24/7 from across the country? Sound impossible? It's
not.
These are all goals of the optimal test environment.
Our Instrumentation solutions are designed to enable efficient
physical and protocol layer testing (Layer 1 thru 4 testing)
of components, subsystems, and systems. It is now possible to
provide automated connectivity at a reasonable cost without
resorting to electrical conversions, that destroy the physical
layer integrity of the signal and mask the ability to
correlate to physical-layer behavior.
Based on the Polatis DirectLight beam-steering
technology, true instrumentation quality performance and
extremely high repeatability permit "fiber and forget" levels
of confidence - enabling the user to focus on the device under
test and not the fiber management.' [Polatis Solutions]

Polatis – JDSU Distribution Agreement for Optical
Switches
Since
March 2005, JDSU and Polatis have partnered in a worldwide
sales distribution agreement (see
original release), with the intent to address a rapidly
growing opportunity for switching in various test &
instrumentation markets. This agreement brought together the
Polatis family of optical cross-connect switches with the JDSU
portfolio of test equipment and its network of re-sellers,
direct sales, and distribution channels. This partnership
provides a compelling value for engineers in test applications
– optimized test & automation solutions – through the
combination of the highest performance optical switches,
JDSU’s broad family of optical test equipment, all delivered
through the JDSU sales and support infrastructure that
engineers know and trust.

OpNext chooses Polatis switch to help
increase throughput, maintain high quality
The
Polatis Test & Instrumentation line of optical switch
products continue to demonstrate the value of automated
optical testing in high volume, quality-critical manufacturing
environments. OpNext, a market leader in active optical
components for the telecommunications, data communications,
industrial and informational industries, needed to increase
its manufacturing capabilities, to meet sharply increased
customer demand for its products, and shrinking lead time
requirements. Working through its partner JDSU, Polatis met
the challenge in this high sensitivity test environment. The
Polatis switch was part of an optical signal management
solution delivered by JDSU.

Integral Variable Optical
Attenuator and Power Monitor Switch
The
Polatis Incorporated team is pleased to introduce a new and
improved VST series of products offering high precision,
non-blocking switches. The first of its kind in this class of
switch, the Polatis VST series offers instrument-grade optical
performance in a non-blocking switch matrix with the ability
to both monitor optical power and attenuate signals on a port
basis. The VST series is based on the award-winning
DirectLight beam-steering technology, which ensures highly
reliable switching without the use of MEMS or micro-mirrors.
The new product provides efficient, innovative capabilities
into automated manufacturing test and network test
markets.
