Polatis Ships 1000th All-Optical Network Switch

Milestone demonstrates growing adoption by users in demanding environments worldwide

Andover, MA and Cambridge, UK March 8, 2011 - Polatis, the performance leader in all-optical switching, today announced production of the one-thousandth optical matrix switch based on its patented DirectLight® technology

Proven by more than 100 customers across 5 continents, Polatis optical switches have accumulated hundreds of millions of port-hours with deployments in diverse and demanding applications for remote fiber layer provisioning, protection, monitoring, reconfiguration and test.

Polatis is exhibiting its latest products for telecom, government, datacenter, video broadcast and test markets in booth #2840 at OFC/NFOEC in Los Angeles on March 8-10, 2011, including matrix switch modules from 4x4 to 96x96 ports, together with colorless, directionless and contentionless solutions for reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers. Rich Jensen, Polatis' Director of Architecture, has been invited to present his paper "Optical Switch Architectures for Emerging Colorless / Directionless / Contentionless ROADM Networks," at OFC/NFOEC on Thursday, March 10th at 1:45 p.m. in Room 502B.
