In this post, Rich Jensen, VP Program Management and Architecture, at HUBER+SUHNER Polatis reports on the POLATIS participation in this year’s SC25 and SCinet.

HUBER+SUHNER was honoured to play a role in building the SCinet high-performance network for the SC25 supercomputing conference, setting a groundbreaking WAN conference record. This year’s event in St. Louis united the international high-performance computing, networking, storage and analysis communities, showcasing the latest advances in research, technologies, and live demonstrations. The conference theme, "hpc ignites," highlighted new developments in high performance computing for AI and Quantum applications.

SCinet is the dedicated high-capacity network designed and built annually by a global team, this year comprising 215 volunteers and 46 vendor organizations. This incredible collaboration delivered the equivalent of approximately $70 million in hardware, software, and services, including a state-of-the-art POLATIS optical circuit switch (OCS) from Silver Contributor HUBER+SUHNER. SCinet not only provided reliable Wi-Fi for the 16,500 attendees and 559 exhibitors, but also facilitated globe-spanning data transmissions that powered the conference’s dynamic demonstrations and experiments.

At SC25, SCinet set a new WAN conference record with an astounding 13.72 Tbps total transmission bandwidth switched through the POLATIS optical circuit switch in the network operations center, delivering high-capacity channels at 100, 400, and 800 Gbps to the conference floor.

Rich Jensen, VP Program Management and Architecture at HUBER+SUHNER Polatis, commented on this year’s achievement: "The scale of innovation at SC25 is truly impressive. Achieving 13.72 Tbps throughput is a testament to what’s possible when industry experts and leading-edge technology come together. We’re proud that our POLATIS OCS was once again at the core of this record-setting network, enabling the kind of ultra-fast, reliable connectivity that modern AI and HPC applications demand."
