NPI Engineer - UKOPS101 (Cambridge, UK)

We're looking for an experienced New Product Introduction Engineer to join our team and help scale production of our market-leading photonic switch platform for next generation fibre optic communications networks.

About the Role

Polatis all-optical switches enable dynamic connectivity directly at the fibre layer, with outstanding reliability and the industry's lowest optical loss. Our products allow the efficient management of ever-increasing data volumes and are a key building block in the evolution towards software defined networks. These switches are based on a beam-steering fabric with piezo actuation, together with absolute position sensors and the necessary embedded firmware control to create a high performance optical switch.

In this role, youll be working closely with the design and development group and the manufacturing groups both within the UK and in Poland to ensure a smooth transition of new products from design to manufacture to delivery. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Development of processes and procedures to enable rapid introduction of new products to manufacture
  • Integration and test
  • Definition of procedures and test tools for deskilling of complex processes
  • Root cause analysis of failures
  • Requirements capture and design of automated test solutions for new product lines

About You

To be successful, you’ll need to have a degree in engineering, physics or a related discipline, plus a minimum of two year's relevant experience. You will have a passion for cross-disciplinary problem solving and an ability to understand the interaction between the optical, mechanical, electronics and software used in Polatis optical switch technology. You’ll be comfortable working within a small NPI team and be self-motivated and organised with a flexible approach to work. You'll also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be committed to ensuring product quality as well as on-time delivery..
